Avery Dennison Vietnam, One of The "Best Companies to Work For in Asia” 2020

Ho Chi Minh City, 1st July 2020 66 companies in Vietnam have been named the Best Companies to Work for in Asia by HR Asia - Asia’s most authoritative publication for Senior HR Professionals.

 

In 2020, HR Asia has carried out assessments of companies across 12 markets in Asia, including Hong Kong, China, South Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam through a strict judging process. The first in the process is the external research on the reputation of companies with outstanding working environment conducted by the Research Department of HR Asia. The second one is the internal survey named Total Engagement Assessment Model or T.E.A.M for at least 30 full-time employees to measure the engagement level in the workforce. In addition, HR Asia conducted in-depth assessments with executives, human resource managers of the companies to better understand HR policies, recruitment, employment information and strategic points to build a good workplace. Finally, the HR Asia Judging Panel and the Research Department evaluated the collected data and voted for the list of Best companies to Work for in Asia.

 

This year, 11,430 employees from a total of 308 companies across Vietnam responded to the HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia Survey. Respondents in the survey scored the highest in GROUP: Think, Feel and Do. 78.2% of respondents felt that their collective sentiment as a group had a positive impact on their colleagues. They expressed sentiments such as “We willingly assist colleagues who require assistance” and “We respect the expertise of other employees in the organisation”.

SELF: Heart, Mind and Soul came a close second. 76.4% of employees felt engaged and motivated with the organisation they were with. They agreed on statements like, “I constantly look for ways I can improve my contributions and my role at this organisation”, “I will go above and beyond to achieve the goals of the organisation” and “I believe that my job is meaningful to the goals and objectives of the organisation”.

CORE: Management Philosophy, Structure & Policy and Active Initiatives. 73.4% of respondents agreed that corporate-level initiatives had positive impacts on employee engagement. They responded favourably to statements such as “Our organisation values clear and open communication with employees regardless of seniority/ role” and “Our organisation has policies to encourage employees to gain additional skills/ certifications”.

 

Rated lowest in the survey were sentiments including “Our organisation continues to communicate with former employees”, “Our organisation values flexibility over processes” and “Our organisation involves employees when establishing or enforcing corporate structures/ policies”. On average, about 21% of employees participating in the survey felt that their organization effectively deal with these mentioned concerns. These are also what companies can carefully consider for improvement in the future.
