Ms. JUDY TRAN (GOLD 2018) - AT FIRST, I THOUGHT... IT'S JUST A TINY LITTLE LABEL!
“When I first learned about Avery Dennison, the very first thought was, how come they need such a large company only to produce some tiny labels for clothes and shoes".
This impression completely changed when I started my GOLD journey (Global Organizational Leadership Development) 2018 at the company. In an interview with Mr. Dung Nguyen - Talent Acquisitions Manager, I was amazed with a very different view of labels - a seemingly simple accessory in the garment industry.
To his explanation, a label is not just a piece of paper or cloth… Its ultimate goal is serving “Information Solution”. So small as its look, yet a label contains all of the crucial information that brands want to convey to their consumers. Let’s imagine, without a label on the product, meaning no information provided, how can consumers recognize their favorite brand? Will they be able to identify the size, or user manual, whether the product is suitable for dry cleaning or water washing? Or else, what temperature is suitable for ironing?
From that moment, I have become more eager to study about the product lines and technologies. Information solutions for brands have always been optimized constantly, so at AD, it seems like I’d never run out of things to learn and improve myself. This is also a great motivation for each of my working days.
Mr. VIET TIEN NGUYEN (GOLD 2017) - THE JOURNEY BRINGING AD VIETNAM TO "BIG SEA"
Graduating from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering - University of Technology - Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, Tien was introduced by mates to the Global Organizational Leader Program (GOLD) in 2027 which opened the position of the production department and so I had the chance to engage for more than 5 years up to now!
My most noteworthy memory in working experience is the first time transferring a new product line from AD Vietnam to AD Italy. That's when I realized the Vietnamese could also do the things which were previously almost done by American ADers. I was assigned the responsibility for implementing this technology transfer that I have developed since the first days in Vietnam. And the result was a success!
The longer I have the opportunity to devote, the more I deeply appreciate the values that AD has been bringing to all the members who work at the company. The two biggest values I’ve ever received are Diversity and Teamwork.
Diversity allows me to do things that were usually conducted by a fixed team. Teamwork permits me to cooperate with multiple departments, and even in diverse parts of the world. It is like a catalyst that connects me and AD on the career path for not only 5 years but definitely more!
Besides, Tien would like to send a message to the students that you guys should be actually confident in yourself and carefully prepare for the necessary skills so as to be able to conquer your dreams, especially those who intend to participate in the management trainee programs like GOLD.
